In Japanese Yamato means “Heart”. The “Yamato Series” knives are forged with the traditional blacksmithing techniques of Japan. The black color of the handle and the blade is given in honor of the Shinobi (ninja) Warriors, dressed in black during the 17th century.
The blade is made of 71 layered Damascus Steel that provides both desired aesthetics and the development of an effective, well-balanced blade. The feeling and weight of the handle is made in such way to ensure perfect harmony.

Perfect, beautiful knife. I was looking to get a new chef’s knife and this fit my budget perfectly. For the same price, I was looking at german branded knives but decided to get this one instead. Worth every penny. Love the weight and feel. Sharp out of the box though it is recommended to sharpen it further.

Shipping to Australia was fast, considering that international packages often take a month to arrrive here

This is a very nice knife. I am not a knife snob, but have owned some decent ones (including Shun, Miyabi, and Kyocera ceramics). This ones feels like it stands up to them well. It’s a big knife, so there is some nice weight to it. Handle feels good and appears to be nicely balanced. Testing it in cutting various things (vegetables, meat) all yielded excellent result.
I do hope the blade holds up to its claim, which I feel like it should. Japanese knives all tend to be super sharp, but tend to get dull quicker. That’s why it’s important to learn the art of knife sharpening with a whet stone.

Overall, happy with the purchase, especially with the price. Do keep in mind the size of the knife, and thus, making it a heavier knife.

I bought this knife for a friend last year and he has loved it so I decided to buy one for myself. I looked at a variety of knives and just couldn’t justify the $200-$400 price point some others have. When it arrived it was nicely packaged and SUPER sharp. I use it 6-7 times per week and love the way the handle feels and the way it cuts.
Delivery could be faster, took 10 days to arrive @ texas

– Avoid cutting bones (except fish bones) and hitting the blade on hard surfaces. Preferably use a plastic or wooden cutting board.

– Dry the knife as soon as you wash it. Do not place the knife in a dishwasher.

– In order to sharpen the blade the use of a sharpening stone is suggested. Any other tools could damage the blade.

– To retain the edge of the knife make sure to hone the knife regularly. During normal use your knife edge may roll over at some point. Honing will not remove steel but will refine the edge of the knife.

VG-10 is a cutlery grade stainless steel produced in Japan. The name stands for V Gold 10 ("gold" meaning quality), or sometimes V-Kin-10 (V金10号) (kin means "gold" in Japanese). The indication 'Cobalt steel' is sometimes used too, but that could of course also designate another steel type with Cobalt. Hitachi is the manufacturer of VG10 steel, but often the name of the Takefu factory is used, that markets the steel in laminated format.

Stainless VG10 Steel holds its edge more than any other steel used to manufacture kitchen knives. The major advantage is ability to withstand rust. VG10 also provides the ability to have the Damascus pattern created in the blade during temperament. For the above reasons VG10 is the most popular steel in the knife manufacturing industry.

The Benefits

- High Hardness on the blade
- Very light and thin blade for precision cutting
- Anti-rust composition
- Long lasting
- Damascus pattern aesthetics

Composition

1% carbon
1% molybednum
15% chromium
0.2% vanadium
1.5% cobalt

The Sharpening

Precision sharpening is ensured with laser technology.
The blades are then hand-sharpened using whetstones.
Finally every knife is carefully inspected before it is shipped to our customers.

Pakka wood, also sold as compreg, is an engineered wood/plastic composite material commonly used in knife handles and other objects that see rough wear. It resembles conventional wood, while maintaining its antibacterial characteristic which is vital for professional knives.

The cylindrical shape of the handle allows versatile cutting strokes.
